This post is all about college apartment bedroom ideas!
choose a pop of color
Spice up your room with a pop of color in the decorations!
I love decorating with all neutrals (beiges, white, black) and then one pop of color. You can add color with throw pillows, a throw blanket, picture frames, flowers, or any other little decorations.
This makes the room look super cute and clean. It’s also great because if you ever decide to switch up your color scheme or decorations, it’s a lot easier when there are only little pops of color to switch instead of everything.
add plants
Plants seriously do so much for your room. Not only are they super pretty, but they make the room feel so much brighter and more alive.
Plus, they go great with any other decorations or colors you have going on in your room.
If you don’t think you’d be able to keep plants alive, you can switch them out for fake plants (that’s what I do!).
have a bench at the end of your bed
Add a little bench at the end of your bed to take your room up a notch and make it feel fancier.
This is going to become a super convenient spot to put shoes on when you are leaving, leave out an outfit for the next day, or drop your purse when you get back to your room. Plus, it’ll look super cute.

use fun wallpaper
If your apartment allows it, wallpaper is always a fun addition to a room. It is usually pretty cheap and easy to apply and makes such a difference in a bedroom.
You can do wallpaper on all of your walls, or just do the wall with your bed to make a cute accent wall.
use photos
Photos are one of my favorite college apartment bedroom ideas! They are seriously just so cute and I always love being able to see all my friends and family right on my walls.
If you want to take your photos up a notch, you can apply a filter to all of them to help them match all of the other decor and make everything cohesive.
have an accent wall
An accent wall is such a nice addition to a college apartment bedroom that really makes it look more impressive. You can do this with wallpaper, vines, a tapestry, or any other big decoration that’ll take up most of the wall.
I recommend doing the accent wall decoration on the wall with your bed.
add a big mirror
A big mirror makes for such a cute decoration. Plus, it is super useful and we always love a good functional piece of decor!
hang vines above your bed
Vines are such an easy way to decorate a big wall. These are super cheap and look really impressive when you put a bunch up.
You can even use these where a headboard would be if you don’t have one. They look really great behind the bed. If you want to get really fancy, pair them with fairy lights for a super cute fake headboard.
decorate with mixtiles
Mixtiles are such a great decoration for a college apartment bedroom. These are small little squares that you can order with your own photos. You can customize them with whatever frame you like best.
They aren’t too expensive (especially when you buy a bunch at a time) and hang really nicely. They also don’t damage the paint, which is essential for a college apartment.

hang string lights from the ceiling
Fairy lights are one of my favorite college bedroom decorations. They are so cheap and seriously make any room look so much better. They also make it look really nice at night when the lights are off.
Hang these across your ceiling for a super cute decoration in your room.
decorate with a tapestry
A tapestry is one of the easiest ways to decorate your apartment bedroom. Find one that you like and then you basically have an entire wall already decorated.
Plus, these hang really well with command hooks so you won’t damage the walls.
have floating shelves
Floating shelves are such an easy decoration that makes the room look so much fancier. These are also great for when you are low on storage space.
You can use them for decorations or use them to store little odds and ends that don’t have another home in your room.
or a floating bookshelf
Floating bookshelves are another great functional decoration piece. These look so cool and you will 100% get questions about how the books are floating.
Plus, it’ll give you a place to store all of your books.
get a fluffy rug
You can never go wrong with a fluffy rug in your college apartment bedroom. I had a fluffy white rug in my dorm room in college and every single person that walked in commented on it. Everyone loved laying down on the rug because it was so soft!
have some extra seating
If you have the space, some extra seating in your bedroom is so amazing! You can get a cute little chair to put in a free corner.
This is perfect for when you have company, or when you just want somewhere new to sit and read a book or do some homework.
decorate with a collage
Shop this room!
These collage kits are such a cute and easy way to decorate a large wall. You can buy a pack that matches the rest of your decor and hang them all up together.
Plus, this is such a cheap option for decorations.
have a desk space
Decorate your desk space as cute as you can so you truly want to sit there to do all your homework and studying. Just because it’s your desk doesn’t mean it shouldn’t have some fun decorations too!
or use your desk as a vanity
If you don’t love doing your work in your bedroom, convert a desk into a cute little vanity area. You can display all your jewelry on jewelry racks, get cute acrylic makeup organizers, and more!
This is such a functional decoration for your college apartment bedroom.
decorate with neon signs
Neon signs are another easy way to decorate your walls, whether it be over your headboard/bed or any other open space.
You can basically get a neon sign saying whatever you want in whatever color that matches your other decorations best!
polaroids all over
Polaroids are a great way to decorate. They seriously match just about any other colors so they will be a great addition to the rest of your decorations.
It’s also a cute way to display all your favorite memories.
decorate with your accessories
As I’ve been saying over and over again, there is nothing better than functional decorations.
That being said, make your accessories into decorations!
You can use a fake plant wall to hang up your claw clips, command hooks to hang hats on the wall, push pins to hang necklaces on a bulletin board, and more. There are endless options for decorating with your accessories.
use a ladder bookshelf
If you have some free space in your room, use a ladder bookshelf for some cute extra storage. These shelves hold so much and are great to hold some odds and ends that have nowhere else to go.
I love using cute bins and baskets on these shelves to keep things organized and also keep things looking cute.
use a utility cart
These utility carts are seriously a game changer and I think every single college student should have one. These can hold just about anything that needs a home.
If you put some bins or baskets in them, they are also great to keep everything nice and organized.
have a wall art collage
Find some cute wall art that matches your other decorations on etsy or amazon and pair it with simple white/beige frames for a cute and easy decoration.
Vary the sizes of your frames to make the collage look even better.
get a functional night table
I will never stop recommending this night table cart for college apartment bedrooms. This is such a cute and functional decoration piece. It looks super great in your room and will hold all of your toiletries and essentials.
This might have been one of the best things I bought for college.
